The Last Coyote is the fourth in a series of Heironymus "Harry" Bosch books. Harry Bosch is a Los Angeles detective put on "stress" leave due to an incident at work. He is ordered to go through therapy before he can return to work.
While in therapy the therapist asks Harry to disclose his mission in life. Bosch reveals that his mission is to find the murderer of his mother. She had been a prostitute and had been strangled when Harry was a child. The case is thirty years old.
Harry Bosch is a man who cannot brook inactivity so he embraces this mission while on leave from the police force. His investigation takes him as far as Florida and results in the death of his superior officer when Harry starts uncovering information on his mother's death. This book has plenty of twists and turns as it leads you to the conclusion. Harry Bosch is portrayed as a relentless seeker of the truth and is the example you want to see in every police officer when pursuing a criminal.
I've read most of the "Harry Bosch" series and this one is one of my favorites. If crime drama is generally something you like to read I believe you'll find this book an excellent one to read.
